Installations
When you have a Window or Door Installed in your Home, don’t get STUCK with a problem . . . Be sure it’s installed by an AWDI Certified Installer!
Modern technology has produced window and door products that offer performance un-thought of just a few years ago. Today’s window products block air infiltration, limit heat loss, reduce condensation, and operate safely and smoothly like few other building products - until someone installs it.
That’s when the problems start. According to a national study, poor installation of today’s wonderful window and door products cause 90% of the performance problems that occur.
In fact, installation can be so poor, that the opening surrounding the window can leak water and air, and the shoddy installation can cause the new window to rack and torque out of square to a point where the locks don’t lock, and the weather seals don’t seal.
Why is installation of window and door products such a problem? Mostly it’s because there are no codes covering window installation, and there are no licenses required to be an installer.
AWDI, in conjunction with industry and government associations has developed the first Residential Guidelines for Window Installation, and the first National Standard for the Certification of Window Installers.
